Music plays an important role in everyone’s lives and studies have proven that learning a musical instrument increases a child’s  development and growth.  Starting piano lessons (or even restarting lessons no matter how long it’s been since you’ve last played) is a great way to reduce stress, increase focus, and bring a little more joy into your life.

Joe Trainor makes it easy by offering affordable piano instruction in your home for students of all ages.  You won’t have to travel, and you get to learn and practice on the same instrument.  What could be easier?

ABOUT JOE: An active and in-demand singer/songwriter/pianist, Joe has been performing in the Delaware area for nearly 20 years, most notably as the founder of The Joe Trainor Trio.  In addition to the local music scene, Joe has worked with The Wilmington Drama League, City Theater Company and spent almost a decade teaching and developing educational opportunities at The Grand Opera House in Wilmington.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced player, I can help you achieve the musical goals you set for yourself.  If you’d like to learn to read music, write songs, learn improvisation, understand music theory or learn to figure out some of your favorite songs, we can work together to reach those goals at a pace that suits you.

LESSONS FOR BEGINNERS: For those just starting out, I work through a comprehensive program that develops basic knowledge of the instrument, focusing on reading, technique and basic theory.  We focus on creating good practice habits to help the student get the most of their time, and the develop tools to tackle each step in the process in a way that is effective and rewarding.

FOR INTERMEDIATE-LEVEL PLAYERS: If you’re looking to take your basic knowledge to the next level, we can tackle pieces that expand on existing skills.  For those looking to use music to create a path in high-school or college, we can focus our attention on preparing for those goals.  Build your knowledge, and prepare for auditions in a way that’s also focused to your interests.

ADVANCED? LET’S MAKE SOME NOISE! Some students already have strong reading and theory skills. We can take that knowledge and explore advanced concepts such as improvisation, songwriting and composition.  Deconstruct existing pieces and learn the intricacies of music and how it relates to the piano.

FUN! Beyond anything else, learning the piano should be fun and rewarding.  Regardless of your goals, it’s important to get the most out of the experience and make learning and playing the piano something you can enjoy for the rest of your life.

STYLES: Rock, Jazz, Pop, Classical, Broadway, Country…it all starts with the basics and a solid foundation.  With the right direction you can learn the techniques that allow you to play the music you want to play.  While lessons will explore all genres and influences, the objective is to let students develop their own direction and give them the tools to play music that they love.

RATES: Current rates are $30 per weekly half-hour lesson.  Discounts are available for multiple students per household.  Ask about my referral program, too!
